Preparing for war

On 7 March 2007 we ran a news story about ‘Remembering World War II's first volunteers’ to draw attention to the fact that April this year was the 70th anniversary of the activation of the Air Raid Precautions Service in 1937. Bill Linskey from Stockwell Green in London sent us the leaflet shown below. The original measures about 5 x 8 ins. Bill says ‘What I find interesting in the light of your article is that the leaflet demonstrates that precautions were not complete by the beginning of 1939, even in an inner-London Borough’. Thanks to Bill for his interest.
